Living Dead
The living dead is a term that loosely describes a, or many, zombies. It can be used as a reference for vampires or other ghoulish creatures, but it's primary reference is to the zombie. The term was created by George A. Romero's and John A. Russo's film, Night of the living dead. Which, as stated in other articles, arguably created the modern day zombie.
This term for the undead has been used many times since it's creation back in 1968. A few other films have tried to use the term's popularity for their own use. There has been “Return of the...” , “Children of the...” and a few others. The living dead was also referenced in the movie “Night of the Living Dorks”.
The official Romero sequels to the original living dead film were Dawn of the Dead and Day of the Dead. Romero then followed up later with Land of the Dead, he is currently working on Diary of the Dead. The term is well known and still in use today, whether talking about the various films that use it, or referencing Zombies.
