Side Scroller Games

One of the most classic and well known types of games are side scroller games. These are games in which the character or game's player is viewed from the side. The character walks from left to right and the scene or background 'scrolls' by as the character moves, hence the title of side scroller games.


Some popular versions of side scroller games are the original Super Mario Bros. For the NES as well as Sonic the Hedgehog for the Sega Genesis. These types of games were more popular in the past because they required less graphics processing and didn't use 3D environments.


With the new technology and an emphasis on 3D rendering/graphics everywhere, the era of side scroller games seems to be at it's end. There are still some popping up in places, but it's glory days have past. Playing the classic games are still great fun and should not be forgotten.
